Boilesen seeks AaB victory for 600 travelling FCK fans

F.C. Copenhagen's autumn leg of the Danish Superliga season comes to a close on Sunday with the Lions facing AaB in Aalborg – and defender Nicolai Boilesen wants to head into winter on a high.

The Lions sit four points off top-place FC Midtjylland and still have one final UEFA Europa Conference League clash with Slovan Bratislava to come on 9 December.

Full focus will be on Sunday against an AaB side that earned a 2-2 draw in Parken when these sides met in July.

And Boilesen is hoping the 600 traveling FCK fans will witness a victory in Aalborg.

"It is a crucial match for us in the sense that we have to keep chasing top spot with three points, so that we have a sensible starting point when the league begins again in the spring," said Boilesen.

"Of course, it is important to us that we are as close as possible to first place. It requires a victory over AaB.

"We know that we'll be facing a good team and that it is always difficult to play in Aalborg.

"But we have the quality to go there to dominate the match. The goal is always to control games on our terms, and even though we have been without some key players lately, we still have a really good team."

Thursday-Sunday momentum important
FCK head into this clash having beaten Lincoln Red Imps 4-0 in Gibraltar on Thursday.

And Boilesen knows the importance of handling the Thursday-Sunday playing schedule.

"It was a great match for us, where we settled things early on and had the opportunity to rotate the team a bit," he said.

"It provided some rest for some of us more experienced players, while giving some of the youngsters a good experience.

"We need that squad depth to handle a match on Thursday and then a match in Aalborg."

AaB vs FCK kicks off at 6pm on Sunday.
