In January 2011 Swede Pierre Bengtsson signed a four-year contract with FC Copenhagen.

Before switching to FCK, Bengtsson played around 20 kilometers north of the capital for Superliga rivals FC Nordsjælland. He arrived at FCN in October 2009 and played 50 games for the club – including the Cup final in May 2010, where he helped to secure Nordsjælland’s first ever trophy. 

Before switching to FC Copenhagen, Bengtsson proved himself as one of the most secure and regular players in the FCN starting line-up; he got full playing time in all the 19 Superliga matches in the autumn of 2010. Bengtsson has not yet proven to be a great goalscorer, having scored only once for Nordsjælland before signing for the Lions.

Bengtsson was born and raised in the Swedish town of Kumla, where he played football until 16 years of age. Then came a call from AIK Stockholm who wanted to recruit the young talent, and this led to a move to the capital. 

The first few years at AIK were spent on the junior team; yet as the talent was obviously there he was incorporated in 2006 into AIK's senior squad. Bengtsson managed to play 43 games for the Stockholm club in 2009 before he went south to Denmark, Farum and FC Nordsjælland. 

At FCN, Bengtsson continued his development and now has within his game all the elements needed to establish himself as a major player at FC Copenhagen. With the arrival of Bengtsson, FCK have gained a player with great potential.

Bengtson received his first match in the Swedish A-team on 19 January 2011, a game that Sweden won, 2-1 over Botswana.
