Swede Mikael Antonsson (nicknamed “Anton”) plays defence, and can be used both as right back and as a central defender – the last being what he prefers. Anton’s 189 cm is always to count on, whether it’s a set piece play in either defence or attack.
Anton was born in Karlskrona, Sweden, and started playing football at the age of 5 in the local club Sillhövda AIK. At the age of 17 he was signed by IFK Göteborg, where he played the next 7 seasons. Anton didn’t win any trophies in Göteborg, which led him to sign with Austria Wien – and there the success came; 1 Austrian championship and 2 Cup trophies. In the same period he got his international debut for Sweden, and therefore it was a successful defender who signed for Panathinaikos FC in 2006 (at that time coached by former Copenhagen coach Hans Backe).
After just one season in Greece, Anton moved north - in the direction of his birthplace - as he signed a 4-year contract with F.C. Copenhagen, whom he expects to win even more titles with... | |||
