On 24 July 2008 F.C. Copenhagen signed a 5 year contract with Brazilian forward César Santin.

Santin joins F.C. Copenhagen from the Swedish Allsvenskan club Kalmar FF, for whom he played almost 100 matches since his arrival in 2004. Together with his two Brazilian team-mates Dedé Anderson and Fabio Augusto, he was part of giving the newly promoted Kalmar team a ”new start”.

César Santin has been one of the biggest profiles in Allsvenskan in recent years, and in the 2007-season he scored 12 goals in 23 appearences for Kalmar. In the 2008-eason he has been a vital part in Kalmars success, and as he left Kalmar for Copenhagen, Kalmar was to be found at the top of the table.

Santin is a versatile player, and can be used in most offensive positions on the pitch, both as mid-fielder and as forward. In his days back in Brazil, he has played two spells for Sao José, a regional club in the state of Säo Paolo.

César Santin has also player for the two Brazilian top clubs Grêmio and Vitória.

F.C. Copenhagen first got to know César Santin in December 2005, where he scored the only goal of the game, as Kalmar beat F.C. Copenhagen 1-0 in the Royal League.

Santin is used to having Brazilian team mates, so fit in well at the start of his time at F.C. Copenhagen when he was paired up with Ailton Almeida and José Junior. Both players have now left the club, but the arrival of summer 2010 signing Claudemir de Souza means he isn’t the only Portuguese-speaking player at the club.

Since his debut against Randers FC in 2008, Santin has been a very effective striker, as well as being a popular player amongst the Copenhagen fans. His goal scoring ability has continued to improve; after ten league goals in his first season, the striker bagged 11 in 2009/10. This tally was already beaten by Christmas of the 2010/11 season, with 13 goals. The striker notably scored a hat trick against OB in October and then two crucial goals at home to Brøndby IF to maintain FCK’s lead at the top of the Superliga come the close of 2010.
