On 14 January 2011 Johan Absalonsen singed a two-and-a-half year contract with FC Copenhagen. Johan Absalonsen switched to FCK on a free transfer when his contract expired at OB.

Absalonsen is from Funen, and it was here that his football education began. After playing for a couple of smaller clubs in Funen, in 2002 Absalonsen made his debut for B1913 in a first division match – a game which incidentally also featured the debut of Martin Vingaard. His performances for the club led to a move to Brøndby IF, where Absalonsen played from 2004 to 2006, helping Brøndby to both championship and Cup success.

In 2006, Absalonsen went back to Funen, as he signed a contract with OB. This stint was also successful; Absalonsen won the Cup as an OB player – incidentally defeating FC Copenhagen – and received further appraisal in the form being “Man of the Match” in the 2007 Cup Final.

The striker is quick, very quick; which gives him an advantage during through-balls, something he has proven numerous times in matches against FC Copenhagen. But he will now, as part of the Lions squad, come to pose other Superliga defenses problems – for Absalonsen is, besides being a brave and intelligent player, also someone who well knows how to bury a goal-scoring opportunity.

Absalonsen made his international debut in 2009, but if things go as expected at FC Copenhagen, there is a good chance that the Danish national team in future will benefit from him.
